An opportunity has arisen to shape nursing working within theDiagnostic Clinical Business Unit, providing leadership and direction to the nursing and wider multi disciplinary teams within Radiology and Pathology.

We are a dynamic forward thinking Division supporting innovation. The successful applicant will be fully supported under the guidance of the Divisional Nurse director, to shape and deliver the Safety and Quality Agenda for patients. The post holder will demonstrate proven leadership abilities to lead teams through transformation.

A proven track record in leadership is essential, as are excellent interpersonal communication and organisational skills.

- Work closely with and promotes good communication with the Speciality business manager core therapies to ensure clear and effective leadership and provision of a timely and reactive service
- Provides management, support, and clinical leadership to the Core Therapies team, ensuring effective management and operational delivery of the service
- In conjunction with the Speciality business manager core therapies, agrees capacity and efficiency plans and is responsible for delivering agreed activity level
- Strategically plan services, negotiate and problem solve within difficult and very complex and detailed issues
- Direct, develop and manage the strategic and operational delivery of the Radiotherapy service of the Cancer Centre in order to deliver clinical, scientific, advisory, educational and research & development capacity and services to Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in accordance with ISO9001:2015 quality standards, clinical governance and peer review requirements
- Highly skilled to communicate effectively, adapting to individualities, with patients and carers during personally difficult times
- Maintain effective communication between staff and senior leadership teams by undertaking regular staff meetings, developing and maintaining an appropriate strategy and culture of staff engagement, including strategies for delivering potentially contentious information so that barriers can be overcome by consultation, collaboration and negotiation
- Develop and maintain close working relationships, which are outcome based, with key members of the Trust and key stakeholders, such as commissioners, other healthcare and social care services, lay members and patient representatives
- Comply with corporate governance structure in keeping with the principles and standards set out by the Trust
- Support the Divisional senior team to maintain high standards of clinical governance to enable the Division to meet its objectives of promoting the highest standards of healthcare
- Manage all aspects of service provision including waiting times and activity levels, taking responsibility for departmental performance
- Maintain knowledge of all current radiotherapy equipment and techniques, developing plans to implement them into clinical use within the department
- Lead on providing technical advice in the evaluation of current equipment and procedures and evaluate options for the provision of new equipment
- Review all written guidelines and protocols relating to the department and ensure they reflect any changes in practice
- Maintain and ensure compliance by all staff with the departmental Local Rules in accordance with the Ionising Radiation Regulations (2017) and the policies and procedures in place to comply with the Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations 2017
- Ensure a robust reporting and recording mechanism for incidents and adverse events and monitoring systems for responses to national bodies, e.g. CQC IR(
