Maternity Support Worker

As a Support Worker in Maternity Services, you may be required to care for mothers and babies, support the smooth running of maternity services, carry out basic care tasks, prepare women for clinical examinations and support them with their hydration and dietary needs. You will also need to update records and other admin tasks such as ordering stationery and equipment, preparing equipment, and reporting problems or concerns to a registered Midwife or Nurse.
**Examples of the settings you may work in**
- the community
- antenatal/postnatal wards
- day assessment unit/triage
- maternity theatres
- delivery suites
- midwifery-led units
To be considered for this role you should have some of the following; caring & patient nature, ability to work with people from all walks of life, acceptance of other people’s lifestyles, flexibility and adaptability to deal with unpredictable situations, ability to follow instructions and procedures, willing to be present at childbirth, able to work under pressure, able to deal with other people’s emotions
