**Location**:Hybrid (2 days per week in the Bristol, Birmingham, or London office, remainder Remote / WFH)

**In the Defra group, we deal with a vast range of issues that profoundly impact on people’s lives. We are responsible for England’s environment, our countryside and rural economy, the food and farming sectors and have lead responsibility for protection from a wide range of natural threats and hazards. We have developed a set of three strategic objectives covering our policy outcomes and corporate objectives. These objectives help us to deliver our ambitious vision to build our green and healthy future and provide a framework for all the important work we carry out.**

**As a Human Resource Business Partner your main responsibilities would be**:

- Support Business Partner Deputy Directors and their leadership team to deliver business outcomes, providing lead HR input into key cross-cutting strategic business projects/forums
- Build and maintain high level business knowledge, including understanding internal and external conditions that affect business culture, delivery and performance.
- Act as a change champion across departments, playing a critical role in the full change process/cycle, to help the business become increasingly agile, flexible and responsive to changing priorities.
- Coach business leaders to understand, assess and improve the capability and capacity of their team and which factors impact on their ability to deliver business outcomes.
- Ensure business leaders understand the drivers of employee engagement and the relationship between employee engagement and business performance.
- Support the business to devise strategies for a range of people focused activities, underpinned by professional expertise, including workforce planning, organisational design, resourcing, talent management and leadership development.
- Be an integral member of the HR Business Partner team, taking the lead in agreed areas on behalf of the whole team.
- Act as an interface with other HR Expert Services colleagues to commission needs based solutions on behalf of the customer.
- Use HR analytics and business insights, performance and informal feedback to identify and address the relationship between employee engagement and business performance.
- Build relationships and form alliances with internal and external practitioners and networks to scan for emerging trends, innovations, current best practice and to understand the external HR sector.
- Demonstrate a commitment to Continuing Professional development.

**You’ll have relevant experience in**:

- Experienced HR generalist
- Ability to hit the ground running.
- Project experience
- CIPD Qualified is highly desirable.
- Public Sector experience is highly desirable.
