To work as part of the multi-disciplinary diabetes team to delivery high quality care to a high percentage of high/at risk patients, assisting the podiatrist to carry out foot care and health promotion and organise clinics.
- To implement individual care plans for specialised patients with diabetes as delegated by podiatrists within the diabetes team, both in hospital and community settings.
- Working autonomously in community clinics, GP surgeries, residential homes and domiciliary visits.
- Work closely with the Orthotist/orthotic company to facilitate the service
- To implement individual care plans for specialised patients with diabetes as delegated by podiatrists within the diabetes team, both in hospital and community settings.
- Undertake home visits for housebound patients taking responsibility for own caseload ensuring regular treatment is received and appropriate referral made to podiatrist where problems arise.
- Assist specialist podiatrists during nail surgery sessions including providing pre
- and post-operative preparation and information to patients, organisation of follow up appointments, assisting less mobile patients with footwear and hosiery where necessary
- Co-ordinate and prioritise Orthotic footwear referrals and assist the Orthotist with fitting distribution and liaise with stockists regarding supplies
- To work as part of the multi-disciplinary diabetes team consisting of doctors, nurses, dietitians, orthotist, podiatrists and administrative staff
- Based at North Tyneside General Hospital
- Work within hospital and community clinics, GP practice, patient homes and care homes
- To provide treatment as part of an individual patient care plan as prescribed by podiatrists within the specialist diabetes team. This includes nail cutting, filing, drilling, dressing and re-dressing wounds as directed by podiatrist, manufacture of simple orthotic devices.
- Undertake home visits for housebound patients taking responsibility for own caseload ensuring regular treatment is received and appropriate referral made to podiatrist where problems arise.

- Maintain sterile environment i.e. decontamination of equipment and clinical areas
