The Department of Economics has an outstanding international reputation in key areas of current research including applied theory, econometrics, game theory, labour economics, development economics, and macroeconomics. It is the only department of economics in the UK to have received the outstanding grade-point average of 3.78/4 in the 2014 REF (Research Excellence Framework) with 79% of all indicators of output rated at the highest 4* level. The main offices are situated in Drayton House, a recently refurbished building adjacent to UCL’s main campus in central London.

**About the role**:
Professor Antonio Guarino is seeking to appoint a part-time Research Assistant to collaborate and assist in different research projects related to his Knowledge Exchange project. The Research Assistant will work under the direct supervision of Prof. Guarino and will be asked to assist in a wide variety of tasks related to the research.

Developping and testing online platform for experiments. Organising and assisting with pilot experimental studies. Cleaning and analysing experimental data sets. Writing code to analyse data and extract key information and graphics.

**About you**:
The post-holder will participate in projects relating to the Knowledge Exchange.

The duties will include:

- The post-holder will participate in projects relating to the experimental economics, as illustrated above. Moreover, note:

- As duties and responsibilities change, the job description will be reviewed and amended in consultation with the post-holder.
- The post-holder will carry out any other duties as are within the scope, spirit and purpose of the job as requested by the line manager or Head of Department/Division.
- The post-holder will actively follow UCL policies including Equal Opportunities and Race Equality policies.
- The post-holder will maintain an awareness and observation of Fire and Health & Safety Regulations.

**What we offer**:
Prof. Guarino, is seeking to appoint a Research Assistant. The post is funded for a period of 3 months initially, with the possibility of extension. The preferred start date is 1st May 2024.

The Appointment will be on UCL salary scale Grade 6, Point 25-27 of UCL Salary Scales £37,332 - £38,966 per annum inclusive of London Allowance, pro-rata.

The work will involve around 5-6 hours work per week. Exact working arrangements are determined by Prof. Guarino. Annual leave will be 27 days per annum pro-rata. In addition, staff benefit from six College closure days per year.

The person appointed will work at the offices of the Department of Economics, Drayton House, 30 Gordon Street, London WC1H 0AX.
