We are seeking an experienced., enthusiastic and motivated domestic violence advocate to take on the role of Central East BCU Hackney/ Tower Hamlets Criminal Justice Service Police co-located IDVA as part of our inclusive pan-London team. This post involves both face to face and virtual support in a hybrid model of home and office/ co-location working. The role is part time 18.5hrs on a fixed term contract covering maternity leave until end of May 2024.

**About The Role**:
As a police based criminal justice IDVA you will:

- Provide a pro-active, high quality, and trauma informed support service to survivors of domestic violence and abuse, in a criminal justice context
- Providing risk assessment, safety planning, advocacy and prevention & recovery work.
- Work in a multi-disciplinary way with colleagues in the Police and criminal justice services health and social care to create effective risk assessment and referral pathways and providing advise on best practice to effectively manage risk and provide support to survivors.
- Manage a caseload across various degrees of complexity and need, including survivors ta high risk of harm.
- Use a person-centered, survivor-focused approach, being mindful of the effects of trauma and barriers to accessing support that survivors may experience.

You will need:

- A good understanding of domestic abuse including hte impacts of domestic abuse on victims and their children.
- Understand the principles of risk assessment, safety planning and risk management for victims of domestic abuse and their children.
- Understand safeguarding issues, and the legal responsibilities surrounding these issues.
- Direct service delivery to victims of domestic abuse or other vulnerable people.
- Have excellent communication, negotiation and advisory skills, both written and verbal when interacting with a range of agencies and individuals. Understand and be committed to equal opportunities and diversity issues in policy and practice.
- Have a strong crisis management skills and the ability to deal with stressful and difficult situations.
