Cold End Process Leader

**Role Purpose**:The role holder will be responsible for providing a technical and process knowledge “hub” for the shift teams, so that best practice is consistently developed, achieved, communicated and maintained at our Cwmbran plant Cold process area. The role purpose is undertaken, at all times, in conjunction with the manufacturing teams, utilising all sources of expertise to deliver technical best practices.

**Main Accountabilities and Responsibilities**:

- Provide process leadership and share expert process knowledge and technical skills so that the shift production teams can achieve consistent and sustained manufacturing efficiency and process improvement.
- Support the production function in ensuring that the plant maintains a continuous manufacturing operation, in compliance with plant and necessary regulatory standards to achieve safety, compliant product quality, and manufacturing efficiency.
- Facilitate and/or carry out process audits and checks.
- Provide and share expert process knowledge and technical skills with the shift teams to enable achievement of consistent and sustained manufacturing efficiency and process improvement.
- Liaise with relevant stakeholders to ensure that the Cwmbran cold process has access to all sources of manufacturing and process best practice.
- Participate in or manage trials aimed at improving product/process knowledge, and thereby reducing costs. Outputs are trial reports with clear outcomes.
- The Cold End Process Leader will take an active role in coaching and the education of our employee’s with regards to quality awareness, CI philosophies, techniques & processes.
- Facilitate and coordinate scheduled cold process Oven Clean Out (OCO) exercise.

**Key Performance Indicators**:

- Compliance with all health and safety rules applicable to the position.
- Successful implementation and follow-up on result of group CI projects.
- Delivery of all objectives and tasks as stipulated and agreed by the P & Q manager.

**Role Challenges**:

- Achieving the required production outputs while implementing controlled process change opportunities, line intrusive CI programmes and development programmes.
- Leadership of process without team reports, seeking to control processes with reliance of shift teams reporting to alternative line managers.
- Sustaining and driving forward CI and managing the resistance to change: maintaining morale and motivating the teams directly against a background of constant change.
- Maintaining clear compliance to standards through persuasion, engagement, re-education, and support. Leading with direction to gain compliance, while understanding the need to correct behaviour directly within a team without a clear reporting function.

**Qualifications, Experience and Skills**:

- Degree qualified in a science or engineering discipline (desirable) - Experience may be considered in lieu, where necessary.
- Knowledge of SAP - desirable.
- Understanding of the fundamental principles of Continuous Improvement and knowledge of the full range of tools and techniques e.g. Root cause analysis; Fish-bone diagrams; TPM; 5S; Group Problem solving, A3 Problem Solving, OAC.
- Six sigma qualified to a minimum of green belt level.
- Ability to work effectively individually or as part of a team

**Other Requirements**:

- The job holder may be required to work shifts and/or weekends as part of a project or problem solving exercise.
