Assistant Commercial Management Specialist

**About the role**:
As the Assistant Commercial Management Specialist you will support commercial and cost management activities across our internal operations and collaborative operations with Contractors to ensure costs are managed, controlled and reported appropriately, supporting investment decisions and driving value through contract and commercial arrangements.
**What you'll get to work on**:
- Carrying out cost reporting to deliver comprehensive information on internal and Contractor performance and value
- Using contractual cost measures and targets for Contractor activities to conduct continuous forecasting and monitoring
- Ensuring costs are managed through reporting, communication and management processes
- Auditing and investigating internal activities and Contractor activities when required in order to provide assurance and demonstrate that regulatory reporting is underpinned by effective cost control
- Providing challenge to claims for compensation events based on quantitative analysis
- Ensuring variations to budget are identified, reported and addressed
- Assessing the scope and nature of additional or one-off work or variations
- Supporting the costing of works and benchmarking activities to ensure Cadent’s arrangements and Contractor costs remain competitive
- Providing procurement and tender support via Cadent’s systems
**Who are we looking for**:
- Educated to a degree standard or equivalent qualification/experience
- Experience in leading and developing commercial teams, providing commercial control over large construction projects
- Understanding of the regulatory environment and key business drivers
- Experience of managing different forms of contracts/framework agreements, developing legal documentation to address project delivery solutions
- Experience of working collaboratively with stakeholders to identify commercial opportunities across the value stream and influencing and negotiating in order to drive commercial savings
- Knowledge of the procurement process and engagement of strategic suppliers
- Ability to think strategically to identify opportunities, sequentially prioritise them and deliver results through your team
- Ability to manage risk, understand in-depth financial information and have commercial acumen that can be used to make meaningful insights to drive business growth
