Norham High School is looking to recruit a ARP Special Support Assistant (SSA) - 32.5 or 37 hours per week term time 193 days (Grade LG5).

The majority of your support will be directly supporting pupils, in classrooms, across our mainstream provision. You will also become the key worker for a number of pupils with additional needs. You will support them to access their academic curriculum and the wider school community. This will include developing effective working relationships with parents/carers and additional agencies, promoting a multi-agency approach to pupil support.

You will join an enthusiastic, multi-disciplinary team who provide high quality and effective support for pupils with a range of additional educational needs in a department with strong leadership. Our support ranges from pupils with language and communication difficulties, including pupils on the autistic spectrum, to pupils with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) difficulties, learning difficulties or physical difficulties. You will have a keen interest in working with pupils with additional needs to achieve positive outcomes in this inclusive environment. Knowledge and understanding of behaviour management and how to use scaffolding and visual strategies in class to support pupils is essential.
