About the Role:
The role of the Special Educational Needs Support Assistant is a full-time position within a mainstream primary school in East London. This position involves working closely with students who have special educational needs, particularly those with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
Key Responsibilities:
- Support students with special educational needs in a Year 2 classroom.
- Utilize visual aids, such as picture cards and visual timetables, to assist students in navigating their school day.
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff to ensure the best outcomes for students.
- Engage with students using Makaton, PECS, or similar communication methods.
Requirements:
To be eligible for this role, candidates must:
- Have experience or training in using communication aids such as Makaton or PECS.
- Possess an enhanced DBS on the update service.
- Be available for a long-term commitment.
