**About us**:
The post of Research Fellow in Predictive Modelling and Medical Statistics at the UCL Institute of Ophthalmology/ Moorfields Eye Hospital is funded by the Wellcome Trust as part of a research collaboration (the PINNACLE study
- Deciphering AMD by Deep Phenotyping and Machine Learning) between UCL, University of Southampton, Kings College London, Imperial College London, University of Basel, Switzerland and Medical University of Vienna, Austria. This collaboration, led by Professor Sobha Sivaprasad at the UCL Institute of Ophthalmology/Moorfields Eye Hospital, aims to catalyse the field of prognosis research by bringing together leading clinical, genetic and artificial intelligence, methodological groups in prognosis research.

The Research Fellow post offers an exciting opportunity for someone to play a key role in a highly successful and dynamic research and teaching Institute, as well as benefiting from the opportunities afforded by being part of the larger financial and administrative community of the Faculty of Brain Sciences, School of Life and Medical Sciences and University College London (UCL).

**About the role**:

- Salary: UCL grade 7 (£39,508 - £47,355 per annum, including London Allowance)_
- Duration: from 28 August 2023 until 31 December 2024, in the first instance_
- Hours: part-time, 29.2hrs per week (Tuesday
- Friday)_

The principal purpose of this post is to carry out high quality risk prediction research in age related macular disease (AMD) using data collected prospectively from multiple countries as well as linked electronic health records, for example using large scale record linkages across primary care, hospital episodes statistics, disease and procedure registries. With an emphasis on risk prediction and stratified medicine the post holder will carry out the primary data analyses

**About you**:
A first degree or MSc in a quantitative discipline, a PhD in relevant quantitative discipline (e.g. biostatistics / epidemiology are essential, experience in development and validation of prognostic models, risk prediction and prognostic modelling in multicentre ophthalmic studies, analysis of electronic health record data from primary care, hospital episode statistics or disease registries.

Previous experience in working with international collaborators on prognostic modelling is required. As well as carrying out research, the post-holder will be responsible for national and international methods workshops, teaching and training.
