What you'll be doing:As the General Tradesperson, you’ll be responsible for maintaining the historic fabric, building services and visitor infrastructure of Killerton House & Garden, as part of the Facilities Management team, to enable the successful operation of the property. You’ll support the team to meet its objectives by ensuring high standards are delivered and maintained at all times. You’ll be assisting with:

- Carrying out repairs, maintenance and refurbishments on the buildings within Killerton House and Gardens, utilising skills such as joinery and carpentry, basic plumbing and drainage, and decorating
- Developing a detailed knowledge of the buildings in our care and ensuring that correct materials and methods are employed at all times
- Ensuring machinery and equipment is properly stored and maintained. Being efficient and cost effective in the work you do
- Ensuring our public areas and visitor facilities including car parks and grounds are presentable and secure, keeping health and safety in mind at all times
- Ensuring that high quality risk assessments are carried out in line with Trust guidance for works that you are completing and monitor compliance with safety procedures

Who we're looking forWe'd love to hear from you if you have;
- Expertise in one or more general trades and in hands on and practical maintenance and repairs either within the home or workplace
- An understanding of traditional buildings/structures and able to make sound judgment on the appropriate extent and method of trade works within such settings
- Good time management including prioritising and managing own time to deliver agreed scope and quality of work. Good organisational skills and attention to detail
- Knowledge of relevant Health & Safety, CDM and Compliance requirements and experience of writing risk assessments and method statements for small programmes of work. Familiar with use and maintenance of personal protective equipment
- Ability to work well in a team. Willingness to work alongside volunteers and able to support volunteers to perform at their best
