Job Introduction
Working within NGED IT’s new Performance and Planning team, an exciting opportunity has become available for a Finance Administrator working in the IT, Project Management Office (PMO), based at either Exeter or Plymouth.
Accountable to the PMO Manager, you will be responsible for assisting the PMO team to provide finance & expenditure admin services for all IT & core PMO functions & services, across the NGED IT Projects, Programmes & Portfolios.
If you are offered a position, you will be required to undertake and successfully complete a BS7858 security screening check.

Main Responsibilities
- Reviewing the current IT GLC structuring/categories to assist with providing greater clarity and understanding of the revenue budget
- Identifying & monitoring expenditure variances from IT price review submissions and departmental plans
- Assisting in the on-going development of budget planning/submission templates to be used by the ITMT in order to provide a clear and consistent way of budgetary planning
- Review significant areas/items of expenditure to provide data assurance underpinning expenditure control and authorisation processes
- Raising and tracking project sanctions as directed by the PMO/ITMT
- Analysing and recording IT revenue postings and invoices to ensure that Purchase Orders are raised and closed in a timely manner
- Assisting with providing detail to support the IT price review period financial forecast and justification.
- Producing contracts renewal and ordering/payments schedule
- Providing the successful delivery of the PMO Service Desk finance & expenditure services and associated requests
- Working flexibly within the PMO team, assisting to provide additional admin services for:
- General PMO admin functions and services, throughout the Project Management Lifecycle
- NGED IT training, tools, recruitment and resource on-boarding needs
- IT project & cloud financial and budget reporting
- IT tool and process evaluation
- NGED IT’s EAM Solution
- IT Business Operations
- Identifying and resolving both routine and non-routine problems within own level of competence
- Continually evolving IT & PMO finance processes, services & tools, in line with industry & business best practice
Educated to NVQ level 2 / 3 and/or or AAT qualified and/or appropriate experience in Finance Administration in an IT focused environment.
You will be fully PC Literate, with excellent Administration & IT skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office tools inc. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, or similar.
Being successful in the role will require exceptional communication skills with ability to converse with internal and external stakeholders, both written and verbally along with a great attention to detail and excellent planning and organisational skills.
You will need to have the ability to work well as part of a team and individually with a flexible approach to support Project Managers and the PMO team.
