The opportunity;
This role is a fantastic opportunity for a developing leader to take on a critical role within People & Change as Performance & Standards Lead. As the leader for standards, you will fill the role of a critical friend within the team, helping the People & Change Director and their senior team to deliver high quality standards across all aspects of work. That means being comfortable operating within the executive space and the demanding pace that requires, as well as being able to walk the fine line between diving into the detail to help improve deliverables and holding the team to account for the delivery of high quality executive level outputs.
Your primary role will be to run the managed environment of the People and Change directorate, be a champion of standards, support the Director of People and Change with priority management and orchestrate input and review of the business deliverables.
Your main responsibilities will be:
- Working with the Director of People and Change in managing key projects, optimising their effectiveness.
- Act as a champion for leadership effectiveness, ensuring high standards is part of the leadership team culture in both the preparation, planning and execution of work products and interactions.
- Support programme management and quality assurance of projects - providing clarity when there’s ambiguity and ensure successful completion against success measures.
- Delivery and assurance of high-quality reports in line with requirements and timescales, including internal reporting.
- Coordination of Board level information, producing high level and succinct data and analysis, anticipating future issues in advance.
- You will take personal ownership for ensuring the People & Change Directorate is represented at the Executive table through excellent deliverables.
- Facilitating high quality interactions with the Exec on the right priorities that drive better individual and company performance.
- Add rigor to routines and processes, and be empowered to actively make change to continuously improve outputs.
- Support the goals of the Directorate and wider business with a focus on setting standards of output delivery and taking personal accountability for driving excellence.
- Coaching and mentoring other colleagues of all levels to ensure our principles and our core leadership standards and behaviours are implemented.
- Proactively identify business demands by cultivating excellent working relationships, anticipating what’s next with strong attention to detail to the business priorities.
This role will be based in Newcastle at least 3 days a week with some travel, mainly across the North East and Yorkshire.
You will be qualified to degree level and a project management qualification such as PRINCE2 would be advantageous.
Other characteristics include;
- Bright, articulate with excellent communication skills and able to work effectively with key stakeholders.
- Able to build relationships and influence effectively.
- Able to interpret large amounts of data and produce succinct and informative insights.
- Able to work autonomously, deal with ambiguity and navigate their way independently.
- Enjoys working in a fast paced, demanding business environment with multiple conflicting priorities.
- Highly systems orientated and numerate.
- Driven to improve quality standards and set high expectations of others.
- Highly commercial, background in business and interest in the energy industry.
- Flexible in their approach and able to handle strategic projects through to data administration.
- Able to deputise for the People & Change Director in internal and external events.
- Experience of managing multiple projects and driving actions from others.
- Graduate calibre.
