Media and Communications Lead

We're looking for a dedicated communications professional to join our busy media and communications team to make sure the voices of our children, young people and families are heard.

We're looking for a highly motivated individual who is creative, strategic and results driven.

You'll have great news sense and will be as comfortable working with social media as you are developing compelling stories for hard-hitting newspaper articles, features and broadcast channels.

You will work collaboratively within the media and communications team across Barnardo's to promote our work across three English regions in local and regional media. You will also be a key player linking our policy campaigns, children's services, fundraising, retail and corporate activity alongside external stakeholders.

A key part of the role is to actively gather case studies to bring to life the work of Barnardo's. Strong relationships need to be formed with Barnardo's Children's Services to ensure a regular flow of new case studies.

Experience of working in a high profile, fast-paced press office, media outlet or public relations function is essential, as well as the ability to use social media channels to contribute to social content across a variety of platforms.

Knowledge, experience and understanding of issues affecting children and young people in England is essential, relationships with local journalists and press outlets highly desirable.
