Aspects of the role will include investigating ways to reduce blood component usage and wastage in a safe and cost effective manner. The post holder will also participate in reporting/analysis of data around transfusion errors and usage, contributing to reporting at a local and external level in accordance with regulatory requirements, e.g. MHRA blood compliance report and traceability of blood components. The post holder will be responsible for providing specialist transfusion advice as the clinical expert to support and facilitate high quality, individualised care to patients and their relatives and carers, in collaboration with multi-professional teams across the Trust’s five sites.
