**Key Responsibilities**:

- Act as first point of contact for library customers, develop high-quality customer service standards and to serve and assist customers in a friendly and efficient manner, referring on where appropriate.
- Take responsibility for ensuring that contractors adhere to policies and procedures whilst in the library.
- Take the lead on project based work including outreach and development and lead on an area of responsibility commensurate with the new Libraries strategy, for example lead working groups and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Organise staff deployment, supervise weekend and relief staff and maintain high levels of teamwork.
- Supervise the operation of the library on a daily basis and to take charge when required and provide a high level of customer satisfaction for the library service.
- Be responsible for ensuring that the library is opened and closed correctly and that all policies and procedures are adhered to.
- Solve customer enquiries and disputes in an efficient manner retaining high customer satisfaction levels for the service.
- Join new customers, making a positive first impression and ensuring that initial needs and expectations are met.
- Champion the use of self service technology and to encourage customers to use this facility wherever possible.
- Carry out administrative tasks such as reservations, discards, inventories, stock servicing and raising purchase orders
- Carry out routine library duties such as shelving and making sure the library is clean and tidy
- Take personal responsibility for Health and Safety, to include acting as a fire marshal, keeping own workspace safe and highlight issues of concern to the Libraries Area Manager
