We are looking for an passionate Support Secretary to join our Plastic Surgery team, based at the West Suffolk Hospital in Bury St Edmunds.

You must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work both autonomously and as an effective team member.

The West Suffolk Hospital in Bury St Edmunds provides acute and secondary care services (emergency department, maternity and neonatal services, day surgery unit, eye treatment centre, Macmillan unit and children's ward). It has 500+ beds and is a partner teaching hospital of the University of Cambridge.

Adult and paediatric community services, provided in collaboration with West Suffolk Alliance partners, include a range of nursing, therapy, specialist, and ongoing temporary care and rehabilitation, some at our Newmarket Community Hospital.

To cover phone calls, responding to enquires and taking messages and directing to consultant and/or consultant’s PA, and receive post and distribute appropriately within the department.

To transcribe from dictation, verbal, written text or digital dictation, all correspondence.

To perform administrative duties as direct by Surgical Secretaries Manager and Service Manager

Book patients follow up appointments according to outcome following MDT discussion, post-operative requests and at consultant direction.

To attend meetings and the booking of meeting rooms as necessary.

To take part in the induction/training of new members of staff as required.

To provide administrative support across the surgical division if required and at direction of Surgical Secretaries Manager or Service Manager.
