**About the role**

The successful Head of Land will be managing a busy buying, planning, and land team to support us in broadening our land acquisition with the East Scotland area. With our growing portfolio of 12,000 properties across the UK so far, this is an exciting time for Dandara.

**What you will do**:

- Responsible for the identification and negotiation of land and development opportunities
- Regularly liaising with landowners, agents, and council
- Reporting to the Managing Director you will have the opportunity to develop your expertise and be responsible for the acquisition of sites as laid down in the land purchase programme
- Maintain a high profile with external property contacts by establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with local authorities, local agents, land owners and other developers within the Divisional geographical area, in pursuit of opportunities for the company.
- Managing internal stakeholders and external consultants to ensure smooth and timely delivery of development projects through to construction.
- Get involved with bids across all opportunities
- You will communicate with internal and external parties towards the exchange of contracts and subsequent legal completion
- Both short and medium term in line with budget and forecast requirements
- Lead, motivate, communicate with, develop, appraise, and performance manage staff to ensure they are fully motivated to achieve best performance to meet the company’s needs.
- With ultimate responsibility for site appraisals, ensure that acquisition proposals are presented, in an objective and professional manner, with required input from other departments and in line with Group procedures for approval by the Group Managing Director/Chairman as appropriate.

**What you will have**:
**Essential**
- An innovative and creative approach to problem solving and deal making.
- Ability to build rapport and utilise network to grow land opportunities
- Strong negotiation, communication, numeracy, report writing, data analysis, IT proficiency (inc MS Excel), project management and presentation skills
- Planning/property-related degree
- A track record of taking land opportunities from identification through to completion, the planning system, and Local Authority requirements and issues
- RICS qualified ideally
- Experience within residential development sector
- Extensive knowledge of newbuild housing,
