**Family Therapist**
We are looking for individuals who are flexible, responsive and passionate about supporting recovery to children and young people who have been affected by child sexual abuse, and who are excited to work with our team supporting our beliefs and values.
This role will form part of the senior leadership team within Imara CIO. We are a medium sized charity and the chosen provider of early intervention therapy sessions to children and young people affected by child sexual abuse across Nottinghamshire and theChildren and Young People Independent Sexual Violence Advisers (CHISVA) service. We are also a provider of therapeutic services to children and young people affected by domestic abuse in Nottingham City.
You will be part of an established team, including creative arts therapists, CHISVA’s and our experienced business support team, and will be afforded many different opportunities to use your skills, including direct work with children and families: undertakingassessments, delivering therapeutic interventions, working alongside schools and partner agencies, delivering training, providing consultation within and outside the service, work with family and professional systems, developing service models.
We welcome creative and innovative ways to deliver services. You will also be part of a multi-disciplinary team providing access to management and clinical supervision and many other exciting development opportunities.
**Family Therapist Responsibilities**:
- To provide assessment and support to families facing complex situations following trauma.
- To provide the lead on systemic approaches within the therapeutic team
- To support children, young people and families after a disclosure of child sexual abuse has been made to police.
- Working in a flexible and responsive way with both adults and children to deliver professional, emotional and practical support that meets their individual needs.
**Family Therapist Requirements**:
Essential
- A recognised professional qualification in creative arts therapies at a minimum of diploma level with accredited membership of either, HCPC, BACP or UKCP.
- 2-3 years experience working as a therapist in a family therapy setting e.g. CAMHS; charity sector
- Safeguarding training and experience
- Excellent oral communication skills e.g. liaising with a broad range of people and age-groups, presentations to professionals, organisational advocacy in various settings i.e. court, schools
- Excellent written communication skills with the ability to complete, read and analyse reports, risk assessments etc
- Understanding and working knowledge of safeguarding policies and procedures
- Passion for the work of promoting recovery and prevention of sexual and domestic violence and to breaking the cycle of abuse
- Understanding of issues around lone-working e.g. home visits
- Effective team working skills
- Initiative, ability, and confidence to make decisions alone and to work pro-actively
- Child-centred and able to hold child’s best interests in mind e.g. in court settings
- Eligible to work in the UK
- An enhanced disclosure and barring service check
- Willing to undertake Police Vetting Level 2
- Able to work unsociable hours and to travel as required
- Own transport and holds valid driving licence and business insurance
Desirable
- You will be a qualified family and systemic psychotherapist who has successfully completed an AFT-accredited qualifying level course in family and systemic psychotherapy and who is registered or soon due to be registered with UKCP.
- Knowledge of the issues relating to child sexual abuse including the intersectional barriers survivors face in accessing services and how to address these
- Experience of, or relevant professional training in anti-oppressive / anti-discriminatory working practices, challenging discrimination and effective community engagement
- Experience of working with survivors of sexual violence and/or domestic abuse
- Good understanding of dynamics of domestic and sexual abuse, its impact on children, young people and families
- Good working knowledge and experience of the criminal justice system
Location: Nottingham - will be required to support clients throughout Nottinghamshire and City of Nottingham.
Contract Type: Fixed Term Contract
Hours: Full Time, 37.5 per week
**Salary**: £28,500 - £30,000 per annum
