Are you eager to learn and ready to kick-start your career? Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council are looking for the next generation of talented individuals that can deliver quality services to the residents of Blackburn and Darwen and help us grow into a prosperous borough.

We know that studying at college and university isn’t for everyone. An apprenticeship offers you a great opportunity to gain a qualification whilst earning a wage and without accumulating the debts associated with study. Real work experience is crucial as you start to build your career and by the end of your apprenticeship you will have at least two years’ of working in a nurturing environment. We also have an excellent record of retaining our apprentices beyond their apprenticeship course, securing permanent roles for those wanting to stay in the council.

Your starting salary will be £7.49 an hour in your first year. During your second year you will remain on this amount or the minimum wage for your age, whichever is higher. We can also offer you 26 days annual leave plus bank holidays, an excellent pension and a number of discounts including gym membership.

**APPRENTICE - FINANCE**

The team is looking for a committed and enthusiastic individual who wants to start a career in Finance. We will provide on the job training and support whilst you undertake your AAT qualification (Association of Accounting Technicians).

Our team supports all of the Council services including Leisure, Education, Environment and we will provide you with experience of working across all these areas as part of your development. The role itself involves a wide range of financial administrative tasks such as processing journals, budget amendments, raising orders, and paying invoices.

We are a friendly team, who have had a number of successful apprentices who are still working with us and we are looking for someone with drive and motivation to join us.
