Job description

**North Somerset Council has an ambitious and wide-ranging programme of Bus Service Improvements, urban regeneration, and transport improvement schemes to deliver. We are looking to for enthusiastic team players to join us and help deliver the joint West of England Bus Service Improvement Plan (BSIP), following the second largest funding settlement nationally **of £105.5m.**

This will be an exciting time to work for us in what will be a fast-paced environment, as we look to expand our engineering design, public transport, transport planning, and sustainable transport teams to ensure successful delivery of our plans to transform sustainable and public transport in North Somerset alongside our colleagues across the West of England.

The BSIP projects include a major bus priority package, first and last mile integration zones, DRT, 20mph zones, mobility hubs, Decarbonisation pathways for Transport.

We are aiming for our Bus Service Improvement Plan to significantly increase bus patronage, helping to decarbonise transport in the district. It is vital that you bring the right blend of skills and experience to deliver quickly and efficiently within challenging timescales.

To support these aspirations the council’s public transport team and highway design teams are seeking to appoint a range of career grade posts, which allow you to develop and progress your career with us.

**About the role**

**Valid driving licence and own transport, or be able to provide alternative, suitable method of travel is an essential condition for this role.**

**This position is currently based at our Castlewood offices in Clevedon. The team work flexibly from home or the WECA office in central Bristol on a regular basis.**

**Please be advised that the Clevedon office will be closed by 2025. Consultation is currently underway to determine the new location for colleagues based in Castlewood; This will be at Weston-super-Mare or within North Somerset.**

**About you**
- Have knowledge of the public transport legislation and operating environment in England, experience in modal shift projects, experience in public engagement.
- Educated to degree level or relevant experience.
- Be proficient IT skills in Microsoft office packages, and proficient in interpreting Data and report writing.
