**Reporting to**: Youth Service Manager, Youth, Childcare and Business

Development Manager, Senior Management, Chief Executive Officer
& The Board of Trustees as and when needed, external agencies, young people and members of the public.

**Job purpose**

To promote the missions and values of YMCA Essex to ensure that we help build lives, hopes and futures of young people and families.

To support and assist in the delivery of good quality youth work to the YMCA youth groups through the agreed program of activities that develops their personal, social, creative and educational development.

To establish appropriate relationships with young people within the boundaries of this role, to help support them to reach their full potential and increase their confidence and self
- esteem.

To be flexible and adaptable in the approach to workload.

2. Support young people in different settings, including detached and outreach work.

3. To assist in the marketing and advertising of the Youth Service from time to time.

4. Liaising and working with parents, schools, the police and other community groups/organisations.

Children, Young People & Vulnerable Adults, and to have the desire to want to work with Children and families and make a difference to their lives.

3. To ensure that the Policies and Procedures of the YMCA are carried out and are understood fully.

4. To ensure that risk assessments are carried out on a regular basis for all areas that staff, children, young people and members of the public access and all activities they may take part in and to ensure the implementation of Health and Safety Regulations are in place.

5. To make a commitment to understand and uphold the Mission and Values of the YMCA so that we make a difference to young people and their lives.

6. To have an understanding to keep a balance between the Christian, charitable and commercial aspects of the Association’s work.

**Personal**

1. To Liaise with the Youth Services Manager, Chief Executive Officer, Youth, Childcare and Business Development Manager, Nursery and Youth Services Staff, students and volunteers within the YMCA and External Agencies, parents, children, young people and members of the public.

2. To assist the lead person on delivering a range of quality support services/programs to the YMCA Youth Group’s through activities that focus on a broad range of current issues presenting themselves including alcohol misuse, risky behaviour, keeping safe and social skills/social engagement.

3. Be flexible and responsible at all times, providing a suitable role model for children, parents and staff.

4. To maintain quality control throughout the provision of work generated.
To foster good relationships with all partners we work with, ensuring we create Mutual
Respect, Trust and Honesty at all times.

5. To carry out other tasks which may from time to time be required by the Youth Service
Manager or the Chief Executive.

6. A commitment to work unsocial hours when required. This may include evening and weekend work.
