**Context**

The aim of our procurement function is to deliver a first class Procurement service which supports UCL’s Sustainable Procurement Strategy and the aims of UCL.

**Main purpose of the job**
- To work as a senior manager in UCL’s Commercial team to understand the key strategic drivers for the Directorate and to facilitate their successful delivery through implementing a stretching and sustainable commercial strategy
- Working with key stakeholders across the Directorate to drive tangible value for money (VfM) from all third party spend through a process of continuous improvement
- Liaise with users to integrate new ways of working
- To hold the overarching delivery plan for the Commercial Directorate and oversee its delivery

**About you**:
**Duties and responsibilities**
- Develop the business plan for the Directorate which enables:

- Cost savings and evidencable value for money (VfM)
- The recruitment of a best-in-class commercial team
- Best practice and optimisation
- Develop and maintain deep and insightful commercial reporting packs and materials executive groups which provide a clear picture of commercial performance, target delivery and how VfM is being realised
- Recruiting, developing & retaining highly capable staff, supported by clear development/career plans
- Implement a collaborative approach with budget holders and decision makers to ensure that non-pay initiatives push for stretching targets and deliver substantial VfM
- Continuously improve business processes and procurement systems across all categories, and faculties. Implement innovative new ways of working, supported by high quality data
- Make a significant and valued contribution to the Commercial Leadership Team, jointly shaping the Commercial strategic plan and driving its execution
- Develop, implement and maintain core systems to enable, support and manage the Directorate’s delivery plan enabled through provision of relevant data
- Champion the use of C&PS’s systems to improve sustainability and manage institutional risk
