The Highfield Unit Oxford is a state-of-the-art NHS facility providing specialist inpatient services for young people aged 11 to 18 with acute mental health needs. As Lead Dietician, you will shape the nutritional care given to young people on the ward.

You will be working as part of a multidisciplinary team which includes doctors, nurses, occupational therapists, and other allied health professionals. There is also a strong network of dieticians across the trust and provider collaborative and peer supervision/ training is actively encouraged. The team work collaboratively and creatively together to achieve the best outcomes for the young people.

We really want you to develop in your roles, share experience and access training such as CBTe and ARFID training.

Within this role you will be part of a great team that makes a difference to the lives of young people.
- To be responsible for the development and provision of a specialist, evidence based dietetic service for young people within an in-patient service and their families.
- Along with the Service Managers, to be responsible for the dietetic service provided to their clinical area and its development.
- To participate in departmental audits and initiate audits within own work area to monitor and evaluate whether local/ national standards are being met and make recommendations for change. To be involved with the planning of departmental clinical effectiveness and audit strategies.
- Working as an integral member of the multidisciplinary team to provide a flexible, prioritised service based on clinical need. To act as a source of expertise for local dietetic colleagues and nationally regarding the nutritional management of the identified patient group.
- To be an active participant in the supervision process as both supervisor and supervisee.
- To educate, train and disseminate information to healthcare professionals including clinicians, nurses, Allied Health Professionals, dietetic colleagues, and students in all aspects of nutrition and dietetics but particularly related to the care of patients in the identified clinical area.
- To participate and play a key role, with other Dietitians, in the development of evidence based, trust-wide multidisciplinary nutrition guidelines and policies.
