We are looking for a Systemic Family Therapist to join the Adult Community Eating Disorder (ACED) team in Oxford.
We are passionate about what we do and will be looking for someone who can join an ‘up and coming’ community team which is in the process of developing a new service model to address the needs of the people of Oxfordshire in the 21st century. We are moving towards the development of a life span service and have good links with colleagues in the Child and Adolescent Eating Disorders Services as well as other Adult Community Eating Disorder services across the Thames Valley region. The service is also in the process of developing the FREED initiative.
The successful applicant will have excellent interpersonal skills which will enable them to thrive within a multi-disciplinary team context and in working with this complex patient group and their families. If you have interests you wish to develop, then please discuss with us.
There are opportunities for further training in the evidence-based treatments, including CBT-E and the Maudsley Eating Disorders Services for Adults (EDSA) Whole Team Training.
Supervision will be provided by an external Supervisor as part of a small group of other Family Therapists from across Oxford Health working with adults who have an Eating Disorder.
The main component of the role will be in providing high quality specialist family therapy to patients and their carers/families who are referred to the eating disorder service.
The post holder will be required to offer systemic group supervision, advice and consultation to the multi-disciplinary team.
Other duties include providing training to a range of qualified and unqualified staff across mental health area as well as partaking in service transformation; through development of the new vision, development of treatment pathways, and support of the wider team with change.
The post holder will be ambitious and have a positive attitude and outstanding clinical skills. Experience of working within the field of eating disorders would be extremely advantageous, however the service will consider applicants with a genuine interest in the client group and those who are willing to undertake a comprehensive induction and training and show a commitment to the development of the service.
The Adult Community Eating Disorder team is a multi-disciplinary team comprised of Clinical Psychologists, Psychiatrists, Nursing staff, Social Worker, Assistant Psychologists, Community Support Workers and Team Administrators.
The service provides an integrated formulation-based model tailored to the needs of adults with a primary diagnosis of an eating disorder as well as those with comorbid mental health problems and their carers. We offer a range of evidence-based treatments for eating disorders and deliver these within the community.
The service offers excellent opportunities for supervision, service development, service evaluation and research, teaching and training including CBT-e. We have good supervision and operational structures and an excellent track record of CPD, as well as good links with both Oxford University and Oxford Brookes. The service is also committed to evidence-based and evidence generating practice and you will have the opportunity to be part of service evaluation and Quality Improvement.

The service operates 5 days per week Monday to Friday 9am-5pm. The post is based at the Warneford Hospital, Oxford but we provide a service across the whole of Oxfordshire
