Following review of the Specialised Mental Health Provider Collaborative Commissioning team within Oxford Health (as Lead Provider) an exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Provider Collaborative Commissioning team as a full-time substantive Communications and Engagement Lead (Provider Collaboratives).

Oxford Health is the Lead Provider for three Specialised Mental Health Provider Collaboratives across the Thames Valley and Wessex region, which have been operational since 2021. These are:
CAMHS Tier 4 (Thames Valley) Provider Collaborative

For Me (Adult Secure) Thames Valley and Wessex Provider Collaborative

HOPE (Adult Eating Disorder) Provider Collaborative

We are looking for an experienced Communications and Engagement Lead to provide specialist support to the three Collaboratives on a range of communication projects. This role will be embedded within the Provider Collaborative Commissioning team within Oxford Health NHS FT, with links and oversight from the Trust’s Communications and Engagement team to provide professional support, accountability, and development.

The team works on a number of different projects and large-scale programmes of work across a number of ICSs across Thames Valley and Wessex, alongside day-to-day commissioning and work collaboratively with a number of NHS and Independent Sector Partner Providers.

You will be responsible for the development and delivery of a communications and engagement strategy for the three Specialised Mental Health Provider Collaboratives including a strong, NHS-compliant brand identity. This includes ensuring effective communications to all system partners on the work of the Provider Collaboratives through regular cycles of planned activity, celebrating successes and raising profile. You will be responsible for the oversight and development of digital platforms for the Provider Collaborative namely a website and social media channels.

You will have a degree level qualification or equivalent training along with specialist extensive knowledge of strategic communications and engagement theory and be able to demonstrate substantial relevant practical experience of working within a marketing/PR environment and communicating with multiple stakeholders. Public sector communications experience would be a benefit but not exceptional. You will be highly motivated to create compelling content and work comfortably between two teams.

You will be confident and influential in handling sensitive issues which may affect staff across multiple organisations as well as an excellent news sense and an ability to spot stories that can be shared to support the positive reputation of the Provider Collaboratives. The successful post holder will have the ability to attend multiple locations across the Thames Valley and Wessex region as required.

The primary purpose of the role is to support the development and delivery of communications and engagement strategies for the three Provider Collaboratives and their implementation. It will provide a communication and engagement framework for members, stakeholders and the public delivering regular, timely and concise updates from across the Provider Collaboratives.

The role will support development of an outline for external communications activity, joining together the efforts of NHS, Independent Sector and third sector partners, both in terms of signposting the public to services and providing updates that shares, celebrates progress, and recognises successes of the Provider Collaboratives. The role will support stakeholder management, media management and PR, and liaison with key stakeholders.
