**Introduction**

The Academic Health Science Network for the North East and North Cumbria Limited (AHSN NENC) is one of fifteen AHSNs set up with the aim of spreading innovation at pace and scale across the healthcare system, in order to achieve the ultimate goals of improving health and generating economic growth. The AHSN NENC supports several different Work Programmes including Digital, Economic Growth, Health Improvement and the Patient Safety Collaborative, all of which encompass a range of innovative and high impact projects.

The AHSN NENC is a membership-based organisation that provides technology transfer services to its Member Organisations, which include local Foundation Trusts, Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) and local universities. As part of the services that we provide to our Member Organisations, we support the identification, harvesting, protection, commercialisation, adoption, and dissemination of healthcare innovation originating from within their organisations.

The AHSN NENC is predominately funded by NHS England and NHS Improvement, The Office for Life Sciences and its regional Member Organisations.

**Overview of the Role**

This role would be ideal for an experienced, motivated Health Care Assistant, Pharmacy Technician or Administrative Officer. The post holder should have excellent organisation and communication skills. They must be an approachable, professional and resourceful team player and demonstrate self-motivation and a can-do attitude to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope and within budget.

It is crucial that applicants understand the need, within a small, diverse organisation, to work flexibly and with a team of Project Support Officers to deliver a joined-up service, ensure the smooth running of AHSN activity and provide cover for each other.

The postholder will undertake a range of critical administrative, analysis, implementation and reporting activities to support the organisation’s project and programme managers develop and deliver projects that enable the AHSN NENC to achieve its strategic goals and objectives.

Reporting directly to the Associate Director of Project and Programme Management, the postholder will also be accountable to the project and programme managers they are assigned to support.

**Job Title**: Project Support Officer

**Salary**:Starting from £26,471 per annum pro rata (dependant on experience).

**Hours of Work**: 37.5 per week (Monday-Friday)

**Contract Type**:Permanent

**Place of Work**: Flexible working arrangements will be considered, including working from home and office-based options

**Base Location**: Newcastle upon Tyne

**Responsible to**:Associate Director of Project and Programme Management at the AHSN NENC. There will be a reporting line into the AHSN Network - via a programme development group, and operations group.

**Main Duties and Responsibilities**

**General**
- Contribute to supporting the development and implementation of the new Innovation pathway/OMNIA system to ensure that relevant project data is captured and evidenced.
- Provide administrative support to a number of allocated AHSN NENC projects and programmes of work, to include the monitoring of and reporting on project progress, milestones and deliverables, to ensure time, cost and quality indicators are in line with approved project plans.
- Update and collate any relevant documentation and records regarding relevant issues, policies and practices to ensure project delivery complies with agreed project management methodology.
- Undertake basic research and analysis on assigned projects and contribute to the preparation of project briefs and PIDs to support informed decision making and planning via the Project Steering Groups and Programme Boards.
- Assist the project team to implement project plans ensuring agreed outcomes are achieved.
- Communicate with relevant internal and external stakeholders where appropriate regarding project status and implementation issues, and escalate any issues as appropriate.
