**Job summary**:
The Digital, Data and Technology (DDaT) Profession Capability Framework categorisation is under the technical job family, and the role is defined as a Senior Infrastructure Engineer.
The Cabinet Office is undergoing a significant Digital Transformation. Over the next three years we aspire to make UK Government digital services the best in the world, meeting or exceeding the benchmark set globally by the best public or private sector standards. For us to meet this ambition we are aiming to further improve the conditions, processes and expertise we have in place to be set up for success. This means we need to go much further and faster and strengthen the delivery of DDaT in government.
To support these ambitions we have established a new Chief Digital Information Office (CDIO) directorate for the Cabinet Office to build on existing strengths. The Cabinet Office CDIO directorate is based on six principles to:
- Build trust by stabilising services and getting the basics right.
- Be the gateway for all non-GDS digital, data and technology services delivered by Cabinet Office.
- Provide impeccable service to our users
- Drive digital, data and technology thought leadership
- Transform ways of working
- Build sustainable capabilities
The role is part of the Cabinet Office Digital Enterprise services team which provides, maintains and supports the infrastructure, telephony, network, WiFi, end-user devices, cloud capability and software across the entire Cabinet Office estate. Our user base includes the Cabinet Office, Crown Commercial Services, Estates and Government Property Agency.

**Responsibilities**
- Maintain regular contact with users to understand their needs and challenges and ensure continuous improvement of products and services.
- Ensure the integrity of the departments’ Google infrastructure both at domain and user level.
- Develop an effective partnership and act as an ambassador for Google Workspace, challenging the department and users where appropriate.
- Support business change activities, focussing on technology impacts.
- Keeping up to date with changes to Google Workspace and other products
- Act as Subject Matter Expert for escalation of Google related problems and changes from the service desk and business partners.
- Promote the service desk as the go to function for technology and digital related change, or problem rectification, ensuring they are engaged early and solutions are determined with input from them.
- Work with the Digital Records Management team in managing the AODocs document library.
- Work with the Security and Freedom of Information to provide relevant support
**Person specification**:
It's essential that you have
- Experience in working as third line support in a busy IT support function.
- Experience in data migrations and migration tools
- Experience in using Google Apps Manager commands (GAM)
- Experience managing cloud and SaaS platforms including Google and Office 365.
- Experience in managing a Google Workspace domain, including third party tools.
- Experience in documentation management systems
- Understanding in administering video conferencing
It's desirable that you have:
- Understanding of legislation pertaining to government and public sector data and IT security.
- Confident in dealing with senior stakeholders and VIPs.
- Any experience with AD, MS Exchange and Sharepoint is highly beneficial
- Experience in managing and administering MS Sharepoint and Office 365.
