The Podiatry service covers the whole of Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin and we have roles available across this county. You will join a supportive team delivering podiatric care in a variety of settings including community hospitals, community clinics and patients homes.

An ability to organise workloads in a timely and efficient manner with good communication skills and the ability to work as a team player is essential in this role. You will be supported by your colleagues and our clinical leads within the service.

We are looking for individuals with enthusiasm for their profession who will provide holistic assessment and treatment planning. You will have experience of vascular and neurological assessment along with the clinical skills to deliver a range of podiatry treatments including wound care, nail surgery, management of the at risk foot, interest in biomechanical and MSK interventions particularly around off loading the at risk foot would be an advantage.

You will have a flexible approach and be able to travel to patients homes and our clinics which are based across Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin which is a mainly rural County.

We have recently reassessed our podiatry caseload to target our services to patients who are medically at risk and who have a high podiatric need, consequently our patients tend to be complex with a variety of needs. We would therefore expect you to be able to confidently reassess and discharge where appropriate.

Shropshire Community Health NHS Trust provides community-based health services for adults and children in Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin, and some services in surrounding areas too. These range from district nursing, health visiting and running four community hospitals through to providing very specialist community care through talented and dedicated staff.

To be part of a highly motivated team providing a high standard of clinical podiatry care in both acute and community settings, performing comprehensive podiatry treatments as an autonomous clinician.

The post holder will be expected to assess, diagnose, develop and implement individualised care programmes to all groups of patients with a wide variety of clinical needs, including acute or chronic neuropathies, chronic disease management e.g. diabetes, rheumatology, vascular insufficiency and wound management as well as other specialised clinics including Nail surgery across the Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin area.
- To be responsible for the assessment, planning and provision of high quality programmes of podiatric care in both acute and community settings such as:
- Acting as the lead clinician in Nail Surgery clinics where surgical procedures are performed under Local Anaesthetic
- Routine assessment and provision of specialist Podiatry competencies i.e. MSK, wound management etc
- Management of patients with complex pathologies in order to maintain mobility, independence and lower limb viability
- To maintain compliance with excellent Infection prevention and control standards.
- To be part of a highly motivated Podiatry team adhering to departmental and Trust strategies, policies and objectives and actively contribute to their development
- To actively develop and contribute towards the clinical governance agenda
