**Kainé is recruiting a Project Officer to implement and develop their Girls Can project which targets girls aged 11 - 15 years of age to engage in positive activities.**

**The Main Purpose of the Job is to set up, develop and oversee the Girls Can project and develop action plans for it to meet its objectives.**
- Implement a girls’ empowerment programme for those aged 11-15 years in the Beaumont Leys and Saffron Lane Areas of the City.
- Build positive relationships with participants.
- Support the girls to make suggestions for planning.
- Raise awareness of local opportunities for development
- To engage/train mentors aged 16 - 18 years to support the programme’s activities.

**There are 3 main objectives for participants.**

1. Learn about their identity, develop self-awareness, build character, learn to address issues, build confidence, and learn from the experiences of others. Be in a position to make informed decisions for themselves and take advantage of opportunities that exist for them.

2. Learn new skills, gain new experiences, raise attainment and become motivated to achieve.

3. Broaden their social horizons, get to know their peers and those who can mentor them towards positive change. Learn from the experiences of others. Build positive relationships.

**Key Tasks & Responsibilities**
- To work with Project Team (manager/colleagues/volunteers) to plan and implement the Girls’ Can project and work towards meeting objectives. To attend planning and steering meetings to ensure that quality work is being provided.
- To promote and recruit participants in Beaumont Leys and Saffron Lane areas of the City working with local schools/organisations to aid this process and enhance programming.
- To develop relationships with young girls aged 11 - 15 years on the project and provide them with platforms to make their suggestions for programming and identify their needs. To develop programming in line with their needs and interests.
- To liaise with project venues to ensure needs for the project are met.
- To identify opportunities for participants to learn from the experiences of others, to meet decision makers and learn new skills. To look at opportunities to share their experiences with others.
- To produce management reports and make presentations on behalf of the project when required.
- To have a team work approach and keep in communication with other Kainé staff and Board Members in contributing to service planning and developments.
- To attend regular supervision meetings
- Promote the work taking place and identify the potential for additional work.
- Establish monitoring and evaluation procedures
- Identifies sources of income to enhance activities and contribute to the sustainability of the project after the current funding term.
- Manages income and expenditure within budget limits and keeps accurate records of expenditure.
- Be I.T. Literate
- Ensures health & safety procedures are adhered to at all premises where the project takes place.
- Works within organisation Equal Opportunity and Safeguarding policies and attends training as organised by the organisation.
- Has a flexible approach to working
- Performs additional duties as required by the Board of Directors.
