This position offers the opportunity for an office-based role in the vibrant town of Little Walden, Essex. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in supporting our finance team by undertaking various accounting responsibilities. Your primary focus will be on credit control, bank reconciliations, and maintaining positive communication with customers. Your meticulous attention to detail, analytical mindset, and commitment to precision will be instrumental as you contribute to the financial success of our organization.
**Primary Responsibilities**:
- Credit Control: Monitor customer balances, follow up on overdue accounts, and resolve payment issues promptly. Maintain a professional yet assertive approach in customer interactions to optimize payment collection.
- Bank Reconciliations: Regularly reconcile financial transactions to ensure accurate records and promptly address any discrepancies in collaboration with the finance team.
- PDQ Conciliations: Oversee and reconcile PDQ transactions, ensuring accurate processing and addressing discrepancies in coordination with relevant departments.
- Customer Communications: Cultivate positive relationships with customers through effective and courteous communication. Address inquiries, billing concerns, and payment-related questions promptly and professionally.
- Month-end Closing Support: Assist the finance team during the month-end closing process, including preparing journals and aiding in financial reporting tasks.
- Recordkeeping: Maintain accurate and organized financial records and documentation, ensuring compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
- Process Improvement: Actively seek opportunities to enhance accounting procedures, contribute ideas for streamlining processes, and improve efficiency.
**Requirements**:
- Part-qualified or working towards an accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, ACA) to demonstrate a solid understanding of accounting principles.
- Preferably, prior experience in credit control, bank reconciliations, or related accounting functions.
- Strong proficiency in Excel and SAGE 50 Accounting software.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with customers and team members.
- Highly organized with great attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
- Enthusiastic and proactive attitude, with a willingness to learn and grow within the role.
