Mercy in Action have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Payroll Officer to join our Charity. This post is for 16 hours per week based at our office in Bath Business Park in Peasedown St John, with a possibility of hybrid working.

A little bit about us:
Mercy in Action is a UK registered charity (1096068) working with children, their families and communities in the UK and the Philippines.
In the UK, our Petra Project provides nurturing homes for young mums and their babies and young people, who would otherwise be facing homelessness. In the Philippines, our work centres around helping children to regain lost years by providing residential care, a schooling program and a drop-in centre for street children. Our professional staff works tirelessly to reunite families and enable them to have a future together.
Our newest Bath-based projects, the Clothesline and Action Pantry, provide food and clothing to local families.
Our growing network of Mercy in Action Charity shops raises essential funds for maintaining and expanding these projects, enabling us to support those most in need

**The Role**:
As Payroll Officer you will work alongside the HR and Finance departments to deliver Payroll for Mercy in Action.
This is a part time post for 16 hours per week, days to be negotiated.
**You**:
You will have extensive payroll knowledge and payroll processing experience, with a desire to understand and implement current and new processes.
Meticulous attention to detail, be organised and able to prioritise your workload.
You will have experience of using Xero/Sage and a sound knowledge of Excel. A payroll qualification is desirable.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Maintaining all current payroll operations
- Collating timesheets and necessary payroll data
- Maintaining current records; annual leave, sickness, overtime, contract amendments, staff records, pension information
- Calculating employee entitlement, ie. annual leave, SSP, SMP
- Liaising with employees, managers and external payroll provider to ensure accuracy
- Working collaboratively with HR and Finance
- Ensuring organisational payroll compliance with relevant bodies, ie. HMRC, DWP
- Submitting monthly payroll data to external payroll provider and pension provider
- Resolving payroll discrepancies and answering employee payroll queries
- Implementing a streamlined payroll process with the view of bringing all payroll functions in house
- Gift Aid administration
**Requirements of Role**:
Extensive payroll knowledge
Payroll processing experience
Basic accounting knowledge
Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel and Outlook with a high level of IT competence, ie. Xero/Sage
Confident with computerised payroll systems and excel to undertake analysis of data
Reliable
Good communication skills
Attention to detail
Understanding the work and ethos of MiA
