- This is a hybrid working role, therefore your time will primarily be split between working from home and our London Head Office. The team aims for around 1-3 days a month in the office to connect and on a more ad-hoc basis to attend key meetings but are flexible on this
- The salary range for this role is set at £46,600 - £69,300
- This position is a permanent contract
**About the role**
We have an exciting opportunity to join the Payment Fraud Team as a Payment Fraud Specialist.
As a Payment Fraud Specialist, you will have deep expert knowledge of Online Payment Fraud and will use this knowledge to work proactively to prevent and detect payment fraud and make recommendations on how to mitigate online payment fraud.
In this role, you will establish and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders who will value, and trust, your insight into how payment fraud is committed and can be prevented or detected. You will monitor the performance of Payment Fraud tools to identify and monitor potentially fraudulent orders.
You will actively balance the tension between prevention of fraud and impact on customer experience and will ensure that we hold or reject orders based on the right parameters which therefore minimises the impact on our customers.
Please note, you may be required to work out of hours, or on weekends, where required due to high levels of demand or an incident.
**What will you be doing?**
- Proactively make improvements to mitigate Payment fraud and optimise the performance of bespoke fraud systems ensuring that systems are operational and accurate and that rulesets are maintained
- Ensure payment fraud rates are within acquirer thresholds and Partnership budgets.
- Make recommendations to ensure payment fraud prevention has mínimal impact on customer sales and service
- Identify new fraud trends and the creation of detection methods using existing business data and systems
- Actively monitor the ‘held rate’ to ensure that orders held for manual review are limited to those of highest risk, and match levels of resource available to manually review
- Produce robust, high quality, root cause analysis and insight into payment fraud whilst maintaining accurate, timely reporting of Payment Fraud incurred with supporting breakdowns as required (e.g. by card type, product type, collection point etc). As well as continuously improving the dashboard reporting covering held rates, screening volumes, individuals performance and bulk releases
- Manage day to day operations with relevant parties including the Payment Fraud solution providers, acquirers and digital product teams
- Responsible for collating, updating, reviewing and seeking data points that support payment fraud detection and prevention and being clear on the purpose and use
- Represent the Security Profession on payment initiatives to mitigate risk and influence change
- Evaluate payment fraud impact of high risk product launches and peaks in trade and on occasion you may be required to support the manual fraud screening of orders

**Essential skills you’ll need**
- Be an SME in Payment Fraud with experience of managing hybrid rules with machine learning fraud screening engines
- Investigation or payments experience
- Experience in stakeholder management
- Analytical skills with a high level of capability in data manipulation and analysis
**Desirable**
- Experience in the retail/grocery industry
