**Job Purpose**: The successful post holder will lead on planning, implementation, maintenance and reaccreditation of UNICEF BFI standards across the service. Combining the education and training of clinical and support staff with expert direct clinical care. You will provide professional leadership and expert knowledge and advice around infant feeding. Audit and action planning will also be required to monitor and measure implementation of best practice standards.

Working autonomously within guidelines and Sphere of Professional Practice within a designated area whilst being responsible for implementation and management of both national and international frameworks and standards in relation to Infant Feeding. To be responsible for a range of policies/strategy planning and service development regarding infant feeding and parent education programmes ensuring consistent and accurate standards of information/advice is provided to all relevant client groups. To lead, liaise and represent the Trust locally to develop strategies that addresses the public health agenda. Contribute to the development of policies/specialised programmes of care, strategy planning and service development regarding infant feeding and education programmes within the directorate.

Contribute to monitoring standards of care and ensure compliance that leads to improvement through benchmarking, audit and research. Maintain a system in conjunction with IM&T that records the relevant statistical information required in relation to infant feeding and parent education. Collect, collate, and report information, maintaining accurate records of all care delivered and ensure compliance with infant feeding standards by monitoring, analysing and acting upon findings. Duties and Responsibilities: The post holder will strategically lead the co-ordination of infant feeding services and lead the 0-19 public health teams to increase breastfeeding rates, influence introducing solid food practices, encourage healthy eating and reduce levels of obesity in Halton and Warrington The post holder will work closely with partners in the community, primary care, and secondary care, services within the Borough Councils, and a broad range of voluntary services in order to develop and manage infant feeding services across the boroughs.

To be responsible for the clinical oversight of the breastfeeding support service and coordination and development of breastfeeding peer support services. To act as an independent autonomous practitioner providing specialist advice to parents and staff which contributes to assessment, diagnosis, care and treatment. The post holder will also provide education and support to other multi-disciplinary staff and learners within this agenda. To act as the Clinical Breastfeeding Expert in Halton and Warrington in respect of maintaining Baby Friendly Initiative Accreditation.

Work closely with UNICEF as part of the process. Develop an action plan to ensure the 0-19 teams and partner organisations can meet the required BFI standards to ensure successful BFI accreditation. Managerial Supervise and maintain high standards of professional care in accordance with current NMC Code of Professional Conduct, Scope of Professional Practice and ethical considerations. Work with a high degree of autonomy and mínimal daily supervision.

Work directly, unsupervised with senior managers and front-line staff of the Bridgewater Community Health Care Trust and partner organisations. Prioritise own workload and manage own diary. Develop, implement and monitor policies, procedures and clinical guidelines in relation to area of Infant Feeding. To act as a link with relevant outside agencies e.g.

UK Baby Friendly, National Childbirth Trust and Representatives of Suppliers of Breast Milk Substitutes. To facilitate with partner organisations such as children centres the assessment of premises to achieve the Baby Welcome Award The post holder will be responsible for the management of the paid breastfeeding support service and co-ordination and continued development of the peer volunteer breastfeeding support services operating within Bridgewater boroughs. Develop an action plan with realistic goals to maintain BFI standards. Responsible for training and completing clinical supervision of all Bridgewater staff who have contact with women and their babies.

Develop and deliver specialised programmes of care including specialist advice clinics for babies and mothers with complex feeding problems using highly developed physical and emotional skills. Record personally generated clinical records. To support the 0-19 public health teams to increase and improve breastfeeding rates in Halton and Warrington to attend 0-19 team meetings to raise awareness, provide updates, specialist advice and support. To lead on the collation of Breastfeeding Data provided by the 0-19 team across Halton and Warrington.
