Excellent role on offer for an ambitious Manufacturing Shift Supervisor looking to join a well-established, market leading company where you will play an integral part to drive production and safely deliver/ manage the area of business ensuring the appropriate and desired results are met. You will need to provide line management/supervision of the team, whilst offering input into continuous improvement activities.
**About the role**
- This is a hands-on, shop-floor based role
- The role is based in Whitby and is a 7 day, 4 on/4 off 12-hour shift rota
- Shifts contain between 4 and 5 people fully staffed
**The Manufacturing Supervisor will be responsible for**:
- Continuous improvement solutions to identify cost and time saving initiatives
- Minimise downtime by prompt actions and liaison with key stakeholders, i.e. Production Manager, Process Improvement Coordinator and site engineering team
- Supervision and management of shift production team, including HR issues, timekeeping and attendance, breaks, first line disciplinary, Return to Work, and welfare as appropriate
- Ensure team conduct all Quality Control checks in a timely manner and to the agreed frequencies and act accordingly
- Drive and maintain high levels of housekeeping standards within production area and site
- Conduct thorough and complete shift handovers and keep appropriate records and coordinate issues with Site Production Manager as appropriate
- Engage in complaint investigations and the definition and implementation of corrective actions with site Production Management
- To support the operationalisation of all QHSE procedures and to liaise with the Production Manager and QHSE Manager to ensure that Quality and HSE procedures are always implemented and adhered to
- Drive team engagement and empowerment
- To ensure a safety culture and safety awareness is adopted by team and self, and to ensure all operatives work within and in recognition of all appropriate Risk Assessments
- Lead and support the delivery of QHSE Training to operators as required
- Support the effective management and development of team through coaching, mentoring, training, and proactive communication
**Requirements and skills**:
- Have a minimum of 3-5 years relevant practical supervisory or management experience in a continuous manufacturing environment.
- Ideally plastics extrusion / other plastics manufacturing but could accept other types of busy, high volume manufacturing industry including food
- Ideally be computer literate, Microsoft office an essential requirement
- Organisational and leadership abilities
- Communication and interpersonal skills
- Understanding and awareness of Quality Control and Quality Assurance processes
- Experience of first line management of HR issues
**Package is**:
- Basic Pay: £16.44 per hour
- Shift Allowance: £2.29 per hour
