About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Shift Compliance Lead to join our team at McCain Foods in Scarborough, UK. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all relevant safety, food safety, and legal requirements.

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you will work closely with the Shift Manufacturing Manager to ensure that all planned, scheduled, reactive, and proactive works are carried out in full and in compliance with company and site policies and procedures.

You will be responsible for leading a team of 4 shift engineers and will be responsible for identifying, supervising, reviewing, and escalating site health and safety, food safety, and audit standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prioritize food safety, health, and safety issues, plant availability
  • Support the technical and operations team on audit, retail, and food safety requirements
  • Drive health, safety, and environment improvement initiatives and actions
  • Coordinate the shift engineering resource to ensure plan conformance is achieved
  • Organize planned work and coordinate reactive works and plant availability prioritization
  • Coach and engage shift engineers and manufacturing technicians to ensure they perform to an acceptable standard and operate in accordance with site systems and policies
  • Identify, organize, and supervise reactive contractors and contracted service requirements where necessary
  • Ensure that engineering reporting systems are completed in full, including SAP notifications and shift activity reports
About You

We are looking for a proven leader with a passion for engineering in a food manufacturing facility. You will have a strong background in mechanical or electrical engineering and experience of computerized maintenance management systems.

You will also have a good understanding of lean manufacturing principles, advanced food hygiene, and HACCP. As a people leader, you will have a proven management style focused on coaching and mentoring.

You will be based at our Scarborough plant in North Yorkshire, one of the largest French fry factories in the world. Our team of over 300 colleagues work hard to ensure the quality of our products meets our high standards.
