The Head of Teaching & Learning (STEM) will be responsible for the STEM delivery team staff, curriculum planning and development, financial management, cross-department liaison, and teaching delivery.

The role location is flexible.

**Main responsibilities**:

- To seek to achieve the highest possible attainment by our learners;
- Ensuring that learners are thoroughly prepared to achieve the highest possible success in assessments and examinations;
- Conduct STEM delivery team staff performance appraisals and support their professional development;
- Agreeing and implementing targets for recruitment, retention and success of learners;
- To ensure all teaching staff are well managed, fully utilised, motivated and have opportunities for career development;
- Designing team timetables in collaboration with other senior staff;
- Foster collaborative relationships (internally and externally) with key stakeholders and partners in teaching, industry (organise structured CPD events such as ‘back to industry’ days), research and knowledge exchange;
- Lead on the development of curriculum materials and resources;
- Managing learner attendance reporting and associated Risk Register;
- Ensure learner feedback and marked assignments are timeously completed (4-week turnaround);
- Support the development of a curriculum that runs parallel with the strategic objectives of the business;
- To deliver teaching to a level appropriate to the job role;
- A commitment to developing (through colleagues) new forms of educational opportunities through hybrid learning (e-learning / non-traditional means);
- Be accountable for Health and Safety in workshops, maintenance of equipment, updating policies and procedures in conjunction with the Operations Manager (Engineering) and Managing Director;
- The formulation of overall curriculum and detailed ‘Schemes of Work’ including assessment and home study procedures. Assessment procedures must be in place and records kept on a termly basis to inform the Operations Manager (engineering) and to assist in setting staff performance reviews;
- The analysis of performance data for all classes, to inform the targeting of areas for both sharing good practice and continuous improvement;
- Support the production of an annual ‘Engineering Delivery Development Plan’ aligned to the strategic objectives of the business;
- Keep the Operations Manager (Engineering) informed at all times of progress and development within the STEM delivery team;
- The efficient administration and organisation of all matters relating to the STEM delivery team including the management of resources and equipment;
- Systematic reporting to employers of learner progress;
- Keeping under review all curriculum and Apprenticeship Standards;
- Hold and record all STEM delivery team meetings;
- The maintenance of high standards of behaviour from all learners;
- The implementation of the Company Health and Safety Policy within the STEM delivery team;
- Liaison with the Quality and Compliance Team to maintain relevant resources and information;
- The delivery and development of a curriculum in line with Company Vision, Mission, Values and Commitment;
- Foster a culture of excellence, co-operation and respect, driving a commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion for all learners and staff both, within and beyond the STEM delivery team;
- Any further duties as required by the Company Directors.

- Be able to inspire, enthuse and motivate staff and learners to ensure they achieve their full potential;
- Be an effective and committed team player, with a clear vision for development and continuous improvement;
- Be highly experienced in the management of teaching staff;
- Be qualified to degree level or equivalent professional qualification, and hold a recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, Cert Ed. or Level 5 diploma teaching qualification);
- Have the legal right to work in the UK.
