**About the role**

Our client is looking for a talented and enthusiastic Technical Lead to help us establish their new Design System, focusing on its development, ongoing maintenance and driving roll-out across multiple product teams.

**Responsibilities**
- Establish the technical vision for the team and provide advice on how to design and build against this vision
- Lead the team in defining and evolving our technical approach and mentoring other developers within the team
- Support product teams across the company in adopting use of the companiy's Design system, ensuring design system tooling supports their needs and allows for ease of maintenance and updates
- Responsible for the successful operation and performance of the Design System team
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of the product and team's development workflow including for the quality, security and performance and CI/CD processes
- Ensure platform documentation is clear, consistent and can be easily consumed by all stakeholders
- Look for opportunities to collaborate and improve overall technology outcomes for clients and colleagues, communicating with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Develop, test, and deploy new components to the client's Flare Design system library. Ensure UI components developed are scalable, performant and accessible
- Line management responsibilities for the engineers within the team

**About you**

**Experience**
- Previous experience of building and maintaining an effective design system component library.
- Experienced in design system tooling (we use Storybook, ZeroHeight, Figma).
- Demonstrable experience developing and maintaining React-based JavaScript SPAs.
- Experience with unit, integration, and end to end testing tools and practices (e.g. Jest, Cypress, Backstop).
- Experience of setting development standards and performing code reviews.
- Experience using npm, package management and versioning.
- Experience using package JavaScript module bundlers (webpack, rollup.js)
- Experience following an Agile methodology.

**Knowledge**
- Understanding of design patterns and object-oriented programming (OOP) model principles.
- Excellent knowledge of HTML/CSS (SCSS), JavaScript and Typescript.
- Excellent working knowledge of JavaScript libraries and frameworks, in particular, React and Next.js.
- Fluent using Git (GitLab) and Pipelines.
- Understanding CI / CD and Trunk Based Development.
- Advocate of excellent development practices including accessibility coding practices.
- Able to write, assist in writing or reviewing technical & architectural documentation.
