Job overview

The Major Trauma administrator is a key member of the administrative team who helps to organise all the administrative aspects of the specialty, including supporting the clinical team.

Major Trauma Administrators ensure all overtime claims and additional payments for consultants and doctors are processed, and are responsible for clinical rotas and clinic typing. The role also involves organising events and lectures, attending and minuting meetings, compiling reports and presentations as necessary and supporting the continuous development of the specialty.

To be responsible for Major Trauma clinical rotas.

To provide administrative support to the Major Trauma Team

To assist with departmental audit systems

To be responsible for managing and organising diaries

To attend and minute meetings

To provide HR support to new staff within the specialty

To be the single point of contact for the East Midlands Major Trauma Management team

To co-ordinate meetings

To coordinate Major Trauma specific training events and lectures

To sort and distribute mail, prioritising for action

To assist in the preparation of presentations

To ensure that all necessary files and correspondence are available for meetings and other appointments

To type correspondence, reports, agendas and minutes from manuscript, dictation and tapes, ensuring confidentiality at all times

- Ability to take articulate past work experience
- Excellent communicator, clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing to all levels of organisations both internally and externally

Desirable criteria
- Ability to speak to various levels in an organisation

Organisation

Essential criteria
- Ability to prioritise own workload and work
- Excellent minute taking skills with detailed actions, issues and risks
- Ability to deal with tight deadlines

Desirable criteria
- Experience of organising large events

Admin tasks

Essential criteria
- Efficient organisation of meetings and other appointments
- Experience of providing high standards of service in a customer/patient orientated environment both within the organisation and external to the organisation.
- Experience of taking minutes
- Experience of the NHS in a similar role, including experience in an administrative role - this should include clinical rota management and clinical typing

**Qualifications**:
Essential criteria
- Excellent IT skills including MS Office Suite: Excel, Outlook, Word, Power Point
- Audio Typing - RSA3 or equivalent

Desirable criteria
- Experience of medical terminology and experience in a health and social care environment would be highly beneficial.

**Salary**: The quoted salary will be on a pro rata basis for part time workers.
