Planning Establish organisation wide project initiation processes that align with the digital roadmaps and strategy. Oversee programme critical path activities and project dependencies, providing advice and support to Programme and Project Managers to ensure mínimal impact to timescales and deliverables Oversee the identification and management of inter-project and programme dependencies Lead Digital teams such that the portfolio of projects has an acceptable balance of risk, benefit, pace and supports stakeholder priorities Develop systems and process to ensure the successful handover of projects to operational support with the necessary approval Establish and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders for Digital in order to achieve the business change and benefits outlined in the programme objectives. Workforce and Leadership Provide visible, compassionate and collective leadership to the Digital directorate as a key member of the Digital Senior Team Responsible as a senior digital leader to lead across a number of domains using matrix management Responsible for ensuring staff have the appropriate skills to deliver and support systems and plans across Digital in line with best industry standards.

Take a lead role along with support of other member of the Digital Senior Team in ensure appropriate development and training is made available equitably to staff. Take a lead role along with support of other member of the Digital Senior Team in ensuring robust workforce planning arrangements are in place. Accountable and responsible for resources within own teams including recruitment, appraisal, grievance, sickness management and disciplinary issues in line with relevant policies that may require the frequent management of challenging, difficult or emotive situations. Responsible for setting personal objectives of direct reports in line with Digital Objectives.

Chair appointment panels where appropriate, ensuring the procedures outlined in Recruitment policy are adhered to. Responsible for promoting a good working environment for staff and encouraging staff to be aware of health and safety issues within their own environment as well as those of other staff using Digital equipment. Service Delivery Required to plan and develop complex long term strategic plans, which will impact across the organisation and the wider collaborative community, that take into account a broad range of issues, inclusive of; aspects of service provision/development for the Directorate. Play a lead role in the annual review and refresh of the Digital Annual Plan and in ensuring that the Digital strategic priorities and plans are incorporated into the overall Swansea Bay planning process.

Communication Develop productive working relationships with key contacts to ensure the role and responsibilities of the team are understood and that digital & IT service issues are identified and addressed in line with Swansea Bay functions. Negotiate and influence significant change programmes that have the potential to be highly contentious with internal and external stakeholders. Establish communication systems across Digital to actively promote the directorate and their plans and achievements including development of patient stories demonstrating the benefits to safety and quality. Work closely with members of the wider Digital Senior Leadership Team to understand their technology needs and use judgement to determine priorities and choices for the organisation.

Leadership Lead on the design and delivery of long term plans for Digital. This will require engagement and negotiations with digital stakeholders such as education providers, other Health Boards, DHCW, commercial suppliers, academia, external suppliers and Welsh Government advisory teams. Lead on the development of business cases of significant size and complexity. Lead the planning, strategy and programme governance functions of the directorate.
