Job summary

We are seeking to appoint a Deputy Head of Nursing for Specialist Community Nursing Services within Primary Care, Community and Therapies Service Group (PCTSG). Eligible candidates will require the following skill, knowledge & experience;

Demonstrable experience in leadership & management, Knowledge & understanding of the strategic direction for Primary Care (in its widest context), Excellent knowledge and understanding of Community Nursing, Demonstrable experience of leading, influencing and implementing strategic change, Experience in business development and strategic transformation.

Leading the service, accountability for governance arrangements, quality of service provision and improvement will be key priorities of this position.

The successful candidate would need to demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively with key stakeholders, and represent the service not only within Primary Community Care and Swansea Bay University Health Board but at key national Nursing meetings, as appropriate.

The role will require the ability to make decisions and progress the work programme for Nursing Services with in PCTSG which will involve working closely with the Senior Nursing colleagues to facilitate, support and enable change.

Main duties of the job

The quality of the Health Boards clinical care and the safety of its patients are fundamental to its excellence and the Deputy Head of Nursing is a key role, providing leadership, and professional support across a defined Division within the Service Group and will;

Direct, lead and motivate nursing staff across a range of Community Services to ensure a high standard of professionalism, efficient and effective service delivery, and that activity is fully aligned to the Service Group and Health Boards plans, strategies and values and behaviour framework.

Work within policy and professional guidelines, interpreting these to inform local policy and development and to improve practice. Provide professional advice to a range of clinicians, managers and staff in overseeing the provision of high quality, person centred care.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Registered Nurse Level 1 (Active NMC Registration) Recognised management qualification or equivalent demonstrable experience Educated to Degree level Knowledge of Safeguarding Adults/Children including the Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards Knowledge of quality improvement methodologies Knowledge and understanding of current policy and issues in professional practice, compliance, standards and the wider NHS Knowledge and understanding of the Strategic Programme for Primary and Community Nursing
