The Associate Director for Allied Health Professionals is an exciting new role for the Great Western Hospital and is a pivotal role in the leadership and development and delivery of the Trust’s ambitions for our allied health professional body (AHPs)

The post holder will provide strategic leadership to all acute and community AHP disciplines. The role will be key member of the Chief Nurse Team. This is a leadership role with the following responsibilities:

- Provide inspirational, dynamic professional management and leadership,
- Ensure the development of a strategic vision for AHPs and ensure this is reflected in all GWH strategies.
- Ensure proactive collaboration with Divisional Triumvirates, medical and nursing leaders to identify and deliver opportunities for service transformation.
- Develop a culture that supports clinical innovation and new ways of working to meet current and future patient needs.
- Identify workforce and service opportunities to liberate the potential and demonstrate the value of Allied Health Professionals in delivering clinical services.

The Associate Director Allied Health Professionals will collaborate with professional leads across non-AHP disciplines and will be actively engaged with colleagues within the BSW Integrated Care System (ICS), playing an important role in shaping the strategic landscape for Allied Health Professionals at system level and in building a sustainable Allied Health Professional community.

- Ability to communicate with staff and external and internal stakeholders at all levels.
- Demonstrable understanding of the qualities required in line with NHS leadership framework for senior managers.

The Associate Director for Allied Health Professions is a pivotal role in the leadership, identity and development of allied health professionals (AHPs) within Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

They will provide strategic leadership to all AHP disciplines which include acute and community services, occupational therapy and physiotherapy, nutrition and dietetics, speech and language, podiatry, imaging, optometry, operating department practitioners and paramedics.
