We are team of advanced practitioners, acute care practitioners and health care assistants with various experiences and skill sets, led by a Lead ACP and Nurse Consultant and we are looking for team members to complement our current work force. We are looking for ACP’s from various backgrounds such as nursing, physiotherapy, pharmacist’s or paramedic practice that have the ability to assess, prioritise and manage the care of deteriorating patient across East Lancashire Teaching Hospitals. You will work across a variety of specialities including acute medicine, Surgery and ward settings, building upon your current knowledge, skills and experience.

This is an exciting time to join our ever expanding team, as the role is ever evolving and changing. As well as managing deteriorating patients across all sites, we have a rotation for our ACP’s in to our Critical Care Unit, this provides opportunity to gain advanced patient assessment skills, close clinical supervision from our Intensive Care Consultants and opportunity to gain advanced clinical skills in procedures such as, arterial and central line insertion, lumbar punctures and advanced airway management. You will be expected to provide leadership, supervision and education to nursing staff, colleagues and the wider medical and surgical teams. The team is currently expanding its workforce of ACP’s to enable full cover of the Burnley General site, which in turn will enhance and develop new skills in your role as an ACP.

Educational opportunities will include a bespoke individualised learning portfolio that will be adapted in order to meet your specific learning requirements, ensuring development of competencies required for the role. The role requires supporting and delivering trust educational courses such as AIM’s and supporting the education of ward nursing staff in the care of deteriorating patients in relation to AKI, respiratory support, Sepsis and fluid management. Clinical supervision will be supported by an allocated Intensivist and Lead ACP or Nurse Consultant.
