The General Pharmacy at the Royal Cornwall Hospital is looking to recruit a specialised dispenser as a key role in our departmental strategy to focus on patient care and experience. This is an exciting development opportunity for the right person who will have the NVQ2 or equivalent in Pharmacy Services.

Dispensary

To dispense for in-patients, out-patients and patient discharge

To ensure accuracy of work during all stages of the dispensing process.

To ensure records and controls are correctly maintained using the pharmacy computer system and paper records and by following the Pharmacy Archive procedure

To relabel patients own drugs for reuse after assessment of suitability in the dispensary.

To perform reception duties including dealing with patient and NHS staff enquiries either face to face or by telephone.

To perform all activities in accordance with training and departmental standard operating procedure

Supermarket

To assist in the Top Up and stock supplies to wards, clinical departments and community clinics when needed.

To perform all activities in accordance with training and departmental standard operating procedures

Robot

To act as an Advanced robot user resolving a defined range of robot errors and providing basic level maintenance as guided by the robot engineer telephone support.

EDUCATION, TRAINING & DEVELOPMENT

To be prepared to attend those courses and seminars, which are deemed necessary by the Director of Pharmacy
To provided evidence of competence by performing and demonstrating CPD
To maintain current training and reading records in the departmental training portfolio system
To train and assess ATO staff in own area as part of the in-house training programme

To communicate effectively with the public, pharmacy staff and other members of the health service staff

To maintain confidentiality in accordance with Trust Policy

To participate in weekend, bank holiday and late evening rota

To undertake other duties in the department as required by the Director of Pharmacy

To participate in the annual IPR and in-house mentoring process’s

To take part in departmental house keeping practises

Responsible for supervision & training of a small number of junior staff and students

To take reasonable care of own H & S and that of others

To attend mandatory H & S training

To be aware that some products within the Pharmacy have hazardous properties and should be handled in accordance with training

To ensure all statutory duties, including the Health and Safety at Work Act are applied.

To participate in pharmacy departmental weekend, shift, late duty and bank holiday rotas.

To undertake any further professional duties which may be allocated by the Chief Pharmacist
