**Job Title**:CARE ASSISTANT**

**Responsible to**:SENIOR CARE ASSISTANT**

**Accountable to**:HOME MANAGER**

**Job Purpose**

To provide person centred care and support to residents ensuring that residents needs are at the centre of all interactions, ensuring dignity and respect is always maintained. Working with the home team and the home management to deliver outstanding care.

**Key Responsibilities**
- To participate in the delivery of care to the residents ensuring that their physical, social, intellectual, and emotional needs are met and promoted.
- Provide additional care and support as required for example when a resident is unwell or towards end of life.
- Act as a Key Worker to several residents, using personal knowledge and experience of working with those individuals to support the team in writing and reviewing support plans.
- Ensure that safeguarding procedures are properly followed and recorded.
- Consult with residents, the senior care assistant, and the Deputy Manager to assist in developing individual person-centred support plans for residents.
- Adhere to the Company’s dress code incorporating the wearing of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).

**Main Duties**
- To deliver person centred care as per the individual support plan.
- Assisting residents with personal care, including washing, dressing and general hygiene.
- Preparation of meals and snacks and assisting with feeding when required.
- Record all care given and document any changes or abnormalities on the daily notes; in addition, informing the person in charge of the shift.
- Assist residents to attend and participate in group activities and to undertake individual activities as needed. Encourage and assist residents to participate in external activities and encourage participation.
- Discuss with the resident, liaising with their family and friends as appropriate, to ascertain their hobbies and interests.
- Support communication between the resident and external agencies for example GP. Social Worker, Occupational therapist, etc.
- Work collectively as a team and continuously promote and aim to improve care standards in accordance with the companies 10 key behaviours and legislation.

- Meet and greet visitors to the home, establishing identity in accordance with the Homes security system and ensuring that visitors sign into and out of the home.
- To be approachable and supportive to colleagues and home management
- To maintain confidentiality and always respect the requirements of the residents.
- To be aware of complying with Health and safety practices.
- Ensure correct and diligent use of PPE and infection control procedures.
- Any other duties required in accordance with the role, home requirements and service delivery.

**About the role**

As a Care Assistant, you’ll provide high quality care for our residents like they’re your own family. Day to day you’ll assist our residents who cannot move independently and help with personal care activities such as dressing, washing and assisting with meals.
