The Wood Shop Team Leader is responsible for the smooth running of retail activities and customer service within the Wood Shop. This includes preparation, pricing and display of products, stock control and management of woodshop systems and processes.

The Team Leader plays a key role in managing the Wood Shop staff and volunteers.

The role is developmental, aiming to develop leadership, management and technical skills and participation and contributions to the senior leadership team. Appropriate training will be given in the first year.
- Leading the Wood Shop team of approximately 3 F/T equivalents staff plus volunteers. Ensuring the team share responsibilities for various elements of the operation.
- Deliver high standards of customer service, particularly when dealing with customer queries and complaints.
- Being responsible for the maintenance of stock levels and improving robust systems for pricing.
- Preparation and display of products for sale.
- Manage retail systems which include till and payment software and the OWR CRM system for recording and processing orders and retail commissions.
- Maintaining tools and consumables for the preparation of reclaim products.
- To work within budgeting processes and seek out significant cost savings.
- Ensuring the sales team set and meet the wood delivery expectations.
- Ensuring the smooth running of our cutting service and timely preparation of customer orders.
- Delivery of customer service for the Library of Tools.
- Leading the team to take orders for retail commissions and coordinating with the workshop.
- Working with the hardwoods specialist to ensure an appropriate level of hardwood stock for sale.
- Co-ordinate with Senior Leadership Team to utilise staff, volunteers, work placements, trainees and apprentices for OWR needs as appropriate and in fulfilment of our social mission.
- Liaison with, creative input into and assistance with the marketing function at OWR to actively push marketing messages via social media, events and the website.
- Maintain high standards of hygiene and safe working practices which ensure the health and safety and security of the public, staff and volunteers. Assist the Health and Safety Manager in implementing health and safety policy. Ensure all staff adhere to health and safety policy.
- Manage volunteers and develop volunteering opportunities including recruitment and induction.
- Maintain supplier relationships as they affect woodshop products and consumables.

**Other activities**
- Shared responsibility with members of SLT for facility management.
- Undertake training in-house or off site as agreed with the CEO, in addition to routine training for Health and Safety and First Aid or any other training agreed with the CEO
- To assist in the development of and contribute to extra-curricular team building activities at the organisation.
- Contribute to Senior Leadership Team meetings, project and initiatives and attend occasional community wood recycling events.
- To assist the Board of Directors/Trustees and CEO upon request by providing duty cover or assistance with any area of the business.
