The SIA is the organisation responsible for the regulation of private security. It is an independent, arm’s length body (ALB) of the Home Office, reporting to the Home Secretary, under the terms of the Private Security Industry Act 2001. The SIA’s purpose protecting the public through effective regulation of the private security industry and working with partners to raise standards across the sector. Its regulatory remit covers the whole of the United Kingdom.

The SIA has two main duties: the compulsory licensing of individuals undertaking designated activities within the private security industry and the management of a voluntary Approved Contractor Scheme, which measures private security suppliers against independently assessed criteria.

SIA licensing covers security operatives who are in guarding, door supervision, close protection, cash and valuables in transit, and public space surveillance using CCTV, vehicle immobilisation (in Northern Ireland) and key holding. Licensing ensures that private security operatives are fit and proper persons who are properly trained and qualified to do their job.

Our core purpose is protecting the public through effective regulation of the private security industry and working with partners to raise standards across the sector.

**Job description**:
**About the Role**

The role is responsible for the management and leadership of an efficient and effective multi-functional intelligence function. This function is responsible for the daily oversight of the SIA’s understanding of current and emerging regulatory threats at a tactical & strategic level. This informs the organisation’s response to those threats and facilitates business planning at an executive and authority level. Also, this role leads on the acquisition and development of tactically strategic intelligence and effective operation of the SIA’s recording, triaging and tasking processes. The role will consist in identifying opportunities to manage threat, risk and harm to protect the public and work in partnership to raise standards across the private security industry.

**What you will be doing**:

- ** Leadership & Management-** effective running and continuous development of an intelligence function that oversees threat, risk, and harm across the SIA. Ensuring it is able to carry out its purpose, statutory functions and strategy.
- ** Intelligence Product Management** - overseeing the development and production of key intelligence products that meet recognised national standards for gathering, researching, analysing, assessing and producing of all intelligence products.
- ** Product Compliance**:

- ensure intelligence products are in line with good practice and the techniques and methodologies identified in the National Intelligence Model to drive, task and co-ordinate intelligence led operational, compliance and intervention activity.
- ** Multi-agency Engagement**- Ensure SIA engagement with intelligence and other agency partners to further appropriate intelligence sharing opportunities with relevant partners and stakeholders. Enable joint operational working. Establish the SIA as a trusted, regulatory intelligence partner.
- ** Multi-Stakeholder Governance**- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with key law enforcement and compliance partners, promoting the sharing of information with and by individual partners and collective law enforcement groups, including National Crime Agency and regional organised crime and intelligence units and counter terrorism policing.
- ** Quality Assurance** - Provide assurance to the Executive and Board that the function’s systems, processes and activities meet the highest levels of integrity, standards of best intelligence and analytical practice. Ensuring they comply with data sharing and other requirements including ensuring those related to the Police National Database (PND)
- ** Performance Management** - Developing and ensuring delivery of agreed corporate, directorate and team key performance indicators. In addition to, monitoring and managing performance in the function including ensuring risks, patterns or trends are identified and acted on. Ensuring that the function has the right skills, in the right place, at the right time to be effective and efficient.
