**About the role**:
This is a rare and exciting opportunity to join our team as an Area Housing Officer. In this role, you will be delivering a customer-focused housing, estate management, and lettings service to our tenants and leaseholders across Cornwall. You'll be playing an active role in the management of our homes, proactively supporting tenancy and community issues, and safety issues. Alongside this, your focus will be bringing together other resources and services for the benefit of the community. This is the perfect opportunity for someone who wants to make a difference for your local community

Each team member will operate within their own geographical area, acting as a visible presence for your 'patch'. You'll be creating strong community relationships, by delivering a consistent housing management service, influencing future estate-based spending priorities.

Some of the key duties are:

- To manage a designated patch of homes meeting performance targets and tenant/leaseholder aspirations.
- Provide the highest level of customer service at all times, seek to resolve issues at the first point of contact, deal with enquiries effectively and communicate in an open and transparent manner.
- Ensure that our customers are at the heart of what we do, we listen and act on what we are being told through bespoke improvement plans in consultation with customers and key stakeholders.
- To be the ambassador for Cornwall Housing within our communities, building relationships with key stakeholders.
- Work with colleagues to provide an effective lettings, voids and new tenancy management services, working closely with technical colleagues to assist in the smooth and timely turnaround of vacant properties, and creation of new tenancies.
- Ensure the speedy identification of empty/abandoned properties and subsequent follow up action.
- Ensure that health and safety risks are identified and dealt with appropriately
- Liaise with the Neighbourhood Enforcement team on cases of Anti-Social Behaviour.
- Carry out regular Estate Walkabouts within the patch, with open invitations to key stakeholders, raising the relevant repairs and ensuring effective follow up and reporting.

**About you**:
We are looking for you to be a passionate, customer-focused person, with a dedication to our local community and your area. We are looking for someone who:

- Is educated to ‘A’ Level or NVQ3 level or with equivalent experience
- Demonstrates sufficient experience of working in a housing related field or equivalent, with a working knowledge of landlord and tenant law, housing and welfare benefit legislation and housing allocations and a working knowledge of Anti-Social Behaviour Act 2003
- Has the knowledge to refer tenants to the correct sources of benefits and welfare advice
- Demonstrates an ability to be able to respond appropriately and competently to enquiries from the public in order to maximise housing opportunities for individual clients through the provision of advice, information and support. Ensuring customer care remains at the forefront of the business

**Our offer to you**

**Salary: £23,409 - £27,540**

**Hours: 37 per week**
**Shift: Monday - Friday, with flexible locations and the potential to be occasionally on-call**
**Contract Type: Permanent**
