Inclusive Economy Lead
At Hammersmith & Fulham, we are ambitious in reforming the council to ensure this is a place for everybody. Within the Economy department, we aim to be efficient in everything that we do. We believe our residents deserve a place that is safe, clean and green, with high quality services they can rely on.
The Hammersmith & Fulham Industrial Strategy - called Economic Growth for Everyone - reflects our ambition to make our borough the best place to do business in Europe and to ensure that everyone benefits, not just a favoured few.
The focus of our Economic Development service - and the Industrial Strategy as it moves to its next phase - will not only be the continued growth of the borough's highest potential and most resilient sectors, specifically, life sciences, biomed, digital, tech, creative, and green industries, but a sharp focus on ensuring that growth is inclusive, benefiting everyone in the borough.
As Inclusive Economy Lead for the White City Innovation District the postholder will lead our engagement with our most innovative businesses, building strong, mutually beneficial relationships which will underpin our aspirations for growth in our borough to be genuinely inclusive, creating real opportunities for our residents and shaping a world-class location for business, connected with a thriving community.
The relationships this role builds on, creates and grows will centre on securing real business engagement in and support for education, skills and employment pathways which will help communities across Hammersmith & Fulham benefit from the opportunities arising from our world-leading Innovation District at White City. It will also act as an important interface between business and the education, skills and employment support system, brokering introductions, spotting opportunities - all with an expert understanding of the crucial role business can play.
Our mission is to be the best council. To do this we need the best people to help build our vision. If you’re looking to develop your career in a fast-paced, professional environment whilst making a difference, then we look forward to hearing from you.
Please refer to the **Role Profile** for more information.
**Role Responsibilities**:
You will need to:
- Lead, and co-ordinate employer engagement with education, skills and employment pathways - with a specific focus on the White City Innovation District (WCID), liaising with senior, c-suite level business stakeholders to increase and deepen business support for a key political priority.
- Lead the emerging 'People' strand of work under the WCID Association as that develops, engaging and negotiating with senior business stakeholders to build a truly inclusive innovation district at White City.
- Provide a single point of contact for WCID employers as a relationship manager on engagement with education, skills and employment (inc. schools) - triaging contacts with the Council’s Employment Pathways Lead and Strategic Lead in Education, among others.
- Engage and account-manage strategic relationships with key WCID employers, matchmaking businesses’ appetite for engagement with the Council on wider issues beyond education, skills and employment.
- Lead, develop and manage a new corporate account management approach to engagement with major businesses, primarily in the White City Innovation District, to nurture robust, mutually beneficial relationships.
**People Values**:
How we act defines who we are. At the heart of our organisation is a common approach to defining ‘who we are’. We are looking for people who can build this into everything they do.
**We are fair**
We treat everyone with compassion, dignity and fairness. We value the views and opinion of others, and promote benefits and opportunities for all.
**We are caring**
We care about our borough and doing things well. We focus on standards and continuous improvement; learning from our mistakes and celebrating success.
**We are collaborators**
We work together for a better society. We work with our residents, businesses, schools, third sector and others for better outcomes for everyone.
**We are driven**
We will only settle for the very best. We seek to continually improve and put our residents, customers and businesses at the heart of everything we do.
**Recruiting for Attitude**:
Your skills and ability are important however, we recruit as much for attitude as we do experience. We are looking for people who have the following attributes:
**Complex problem-solving**
